Surface application mouldicides for short to medium term protection
Glueline addition for particleboard, strandboard and MDF
Ultra-low volume surface applications for fine finished products

Mould - what’s the problem? Most wood and wood-based products can be susceptible to mould growth at some stage in their production or service life. Although mould is simply a surface phenomenon and does not pose a threat to the strength of the wood product itself, there are good reasons for protecting wood from mould attack. Apart from mould being unsightly, mould spores can be detrimental to human health, and mould also indicates that the conditions may be favorable to other, more serious fungal types, such as stains and decay.

How can I overcome the mould problem? Zelam has carried out extensive testing in special mould incubation chambers to assess the performance of different compounds. Our own laboratory board manufacturing facility has enabled us to simulate commercial processes and introduce anti-mould compounds into panels of MDF, strandboard and particleboard during the manufacturing process. These panels have then been tested for mould resistance - enabling us to choose the best compounds for incorporating into our formulations.
In house research and development facilities enable Zelam to test the compatability of our products with other components of the manufacturing process, such as glues. This provides customers with a knowledge that any product in the Taratek range has the best in technical back-up.

Why Taratek? Taratek mould control products can be applied to the surface of sawn wood, panel products and engineered wood products to provide protection from surface mould growth. This can be useful for temporary protection when shipping in humid conditions, or for longer term protection for low risk, indoor surfaces.
For longer term protection of panel products, or for protection after machining or cutting of reconstituted products, the Taratek product range includes mouldicides for inclusion into the manufacturing process.
