Experience in treating many different manufactured wood products
Why decay protection? Wood and wood products are susceptible to decay if moisture conditions and temperatures are maintained at the appropriate levels. The decay causing fungi will grow readily on damp wood, particleboard, strandboard, LVL, plywood etc. These products will rapidly degrade in the right conditions, losing considerable strength as the decay sets in.
Why Taratek? Taratek anti-decay products are designed to provide an easy alternative method of adding decay protection to panels and engineered wood products. They can be applied during the manufacturing process, for example by addition to the glue, overcoming the need for a separate treatment stage after manufacture and the inevitable losses that occur as a result.
The products are compatible with most glue systems, and are based on relatively non-toxic agricultural fungicides. They contain no toxic metals, such as chromium, and no arsenic compounds.
Zelam has invested in facilities to test and develop
anti-decay products for the wood based panel industry. Many different compounds have been trialed to allow us to offer the best combinations for different applications, and include products for protecting MDF, strandboard and particleboard, LVL and plywood.
Taratek anti-decay products are also available for traditional treating of solid wood. These products are based on tried and true ingredients and provide long term protection for solid wood products.
What is the Taratek advantage? As well as the recognised options for the treating of solid wood Taratek anti-decay products for engineered wood and panels provide a safe and easy way of adding decay protection to these at-risk wood based materials.
