ENCAPS

There are a number of questions relating to ENCAPS technology.
These are:

  • What is it?
  • How are they prepared?
  • How can you be sure they work as desired?

What are they?

ENCAPS is a technology for the preparation of microencapsulated substances. Here, the active ingredient is encapsulated in a specially formulated polymeric wall to form discrete microcapsules. Or to rephrase this; it is the science of creating a droplet that is enveloped by a coating to create a microscopically small container, the microcapsule.

Controlling the size and the type of polymer used in the capsule wall allows for
the preparation of microcapsules with individual properties. These properties
can be altered to control the availability of the active ingredient and the way it
is released.

How are they prepared?

We use a continuous inline production method for preparation of our microcapsules. This allows us a high level of control over the size of microcapsules and the chemical make up of the polymeric wall of the microcapsules. In turn, this gives us a high level of control over the behavior of the microcapsules release behaviour.

How can you be sure they work as desired?

This is determined through a rigorous screening program. There are multiple aspects to the screening program:

In Conclusion

A great deal of time and work goes into preparing a microcapsule formulation for a specific environment, or task.
