Zelam has a Research department of 14 highly qualified people and all are well experienced in their respective fields. Research is conducted at a local level which means we can identify local industries needs and develop products to meet them.
Research staff are located at our New Plymouth site, Hastings - Hawke's Bay, Christchurch and Brisbane - Australia. Each site has their own strength with H.B. being particularly useful for carrying out trials on top fruit, such as evaluating potential apple russet risk, along with experiments on grapes and vegetables. Christchurch is the centre of cereal growing along with many specialised seed production such as clover, carrots, and brassicas and is also now NZ’s biggest producer of potatoes. Located close to New Plymouth are two secure field sites. The New Plymouth site also has several laboratories for developing and analysing new formulations.The production facility in New Plymouth has recently commissioned our new high tech continuous micro-encapsulation plant. This plant followed on from the research lab scale micro-encapsulation plant which is used to make formulations for laboratory and field testing.
