Like any true one eyed Cantabrian Jason Gosney believes the territory he works in can’t be beaten. This area ranges from the Rangitata river (including Geraldine) in the South to the sunny climes of Nelson and Blenheim in the North.
Jason cut his teeth picking radish and hoeing lettuce on the family market garden in the traditional vegetable growing area of Marshlands to the North of Christchurch. After graduating from the University of Canterbury with a BSc. (Hons) in Zoology, Jason followed the well beaten track overseas and experienced working on a vegetable farm, waiting tables and watering the pot-plants at the MI5 building in London. Eventually he returned home to get married and got a real job.
Jason worked as an agronomist for South Pacific Seeds for 6 years producing vegetable seed for overseas export. He now is a territory manager for Zelam. “The learning curve has been a steep one but the knowledge and support within Zelam is fantastic. If I don’t know the answer you can guarantee there will be someone in the company that does”. Jason lives in Springston with wife Jenny and daughter Francesca. Away from work Jason is keen on sport, home renovations. He also grows a vege seed crop on contract for his previous workplace to “keep it real”.
